Lisa K. Crosato: Elevating Filmmaking with City of Angels Film Festival

15 June 2025

Award-winning actress, writer, and producer Lisa K. Crosato is making significant strides in the film industry through her role as the founder and creative director of City of Angels Film Festival (COAFF). With a mission to connect, empower, and uplift filmmakers and writers from around the globe, Lisa has transformed COAFF into one of the most respected film festivals in the world.

Established in Los Angeles, COAFF has earned accolades for its inclusive approach and dedication to showcasing diverse voices in cinema. The festival is IMDb qualifying and ranks among the top 1 percent of best-reviewed film festivals globally, a testament to Lisa’s vision and hard work. With offices now in London and Cannes, the festival has expanded its reach and influence, attracting filmmakers and audiences from all over the world.

Lisa’s journey in creating City of Angels Film Festival stems from her passion for storytelling and her desire to provide opportunities for others in the industry. “I wanted to create a platform where filmmakers could not only showcase their work but also connect with like-minded individuals who share a passion for storytelling,” she explains. “COAFF is about building a supportive community that empowers artists to pursue their dreams.”

Under Lisa’s leadership, COAFF has grown tremendously, becoming a beacon for emerging filmmakers and seasoned professionals alike. The festival offers a variety of programs, including film screenings, workshops, and networking events that foster collaboration and creativity. “We strive to create an environment where filmmakers can thrive and exchange ideas,” Lisa shares. “It’s rewarding to see the connections being made and the projects that emerge from those relationships.”

As the festival approaches, Lisa is particularly excited about the upcoming season, which promises to feature a diverse array of films and events. “Each year, we aim to elevate the festival experience and highlight stories that resonate with audiences,” she says. “I’m thrilled about the new talent we’ll be showcasing and the impactful discussions that will take place.”

Lisa’s dedication to empowering women in the film industry is also a driving force behind COAFF. “I believe it’s crucial to amplify female voices and perspectives in film,” she states. “By providing a platform for women filmmakers, we are helping to shape a more inclusive industry.”  Recently the festival is now open to both men and women and has become more international with new offices in both London and Cannes. City of Angels Film Festival continues to attract world class talent and has awarded several Academy Award, Golden Globe and Bafta Award winning artists with Angel Awards for extraordinary work and inspiration including Alan Ball, Charles Burnett, Penelope Ann Miller, Peter Bogdanovich, Dee Wallace and others.

In addition to running COAFF, Lisa continues to pursue her own projects as an actress and filmmaker. Her commitment to storytelling extends beyond the festival, as she actively works on developing her own award-winning screenplays. “Being involved in both sides of the industry allows me to better understand the challenges filmmakers face, and I want to use that knowledge to support others,” she explains. Lisa has roles in four upcoming feature films including a thriller that she will be starring in this fall in LA. Lisa is currently represented by Silvers/Koster Productions and for her public relations needs Sherry Lee at GTK PR Agency, LLC
