Growing up, I was always conscious about what I put on my skin. Like many, I watched women around me apply makeup, cleansers, and moisturizers daily. I noticed how these products were filled with chemicals, many of which had names we couldn’t pronounce, and I began to wonder: What are we really putting on our skin?
The more I researched, the more aware I became of the harmful ingredients hiding in plain sight—silicones, sulfates, phthalates, synthetic fragrances, parabens, petrolatum, and more. These ingredients are common in everyday products, but their long-term effects on the skin are rarely discussed. In fact, many of these chemicals are banned in various parts of the world due to their potential to cause skin irritation, disrupt hormones, and even lead to serious health concerns. Yet, they remain a staple in the beauty industry.
I realized that we’ve become accustomed to trusting products that promise flawless skin, but we rarely question the chemicals behind those promises. Women apply layers of these products daily without realizing the potential harm they could be causing to their skin. This discovery was both eye-opening and alarming. I knew there had to be a better way—a way to care for our skin without sacrificing its long-term health for short-term results.
That’s when the idea for Talodew was born. In January 2024, I decided to create a skincare brand that focuses on clean, natural ingredients that people can actually pronounce and understand. I wanted to offer an alternative to the chemical-heavy products that dominate the market—an alternative that nourishes the skin rather than harming it.
