Self-Care and Self-Love, SKINPOEM Celebrates Being Single This Valentine’s Day

9 February 2024

Since its inception a couple years ago, SKINPOEM has emphasized the need for self-care and self-love in our daily routines. The brand was founded by Chin Simpson, who incorporated her philosophies of healthy and gentle living into the core ethics of the brand with the intention of encouraging everyone to take care of not only their skin, but also their mind.

Simpson was inspired to create her brand after witnessing her brother suffer from psoriasis, a painful skin condition. She wanted to help her brother, as well as others suffering from similar skin conditions, heal their skin with love. She combined her passion for entrepreneurship and skincare with her love of poetry to create something new and inspiring. Each product that SKINPOEM offers, from the Collagen and Colloidal Oatmeal Soap to the Hydrating and Brightening Mist, features a poem that one can recite to themselves every time they do their skincare routine as a reminder to stay positive and love their skin while it heals.
For Valentine’s Day, SKINPOEM has further embraced this philosophy into their campaign. Releasing a Gentle Hydrating Anti-Bacterial Hand Wash in two different scents, Enchanted Night and Fresh Pine, to symbolize cleansing the heart from loss and heartbreak.

This non-traditional approach to Valentine’s Day is playful and satirical, and empowers singles to feel confident and heal from the loss they have experienced. Advertisements for this campaign feature chess boards with SKINPOEM products as the pieces, showcasing that consumers do not need a king this Valentine’s Day if they have SKINPOEM.

For this campaign, SKINPOEM has collaborated with Aphro Apollo on a book titled Morbid, a self-help book that focuses on relationships, particularly the situationships and no-label relationships which have become more popular in recent years. The book highlights any feelings one might have after ending such a relationship and how to reclaim their power in order to improve and move on.

The SKINPOEM x MORBID collaboration is perfect for the day of love as it reminds us that Valentine’s Day is not just for those in relationships. It is a day to celebrate all love in our lives, whether it’s loving ourselves, our families, or our friendships, everyone can participate in Valentine’s Day. It encourages everyone to be gentle, even if they are healing from a recent heartbreak, by changing the perspective that Valentine’s Day is only for couples. SKINPOEM x MORBID is also holding a special giveaway to commemorate their collaboration with fans of the brand having the opportunity to enter on Instagram to win both the hand soap and the book.

In line with the Valentine’s Day campaign, SKINPOEM will continue the year with a focus on SKINPOEM lovers. By interacting with fans of the brand on social media like Instagram and Facebook, SKINPOEM hopes to foster a community that centers healing and self-care in their daily routines. SKINPOEM also utilizes its website to create this sense of community with essays and poems about love being posted, as well as an option for consumers to send in their own thoughts.
