Sebastian Sommer: A Visionary Filmmaker With Dragon

16 April 2025

Lights. Camera. Action. Sebastian Sommer is a filmmaker and writer making waves with his debut feature film, Dragon. With a style that’s both distinct and deeply atmospheric, Sommer is quickly establishing himself as a standout auteur in the ever-evolving world of independent cinema and the streaming age.

Sebastian started his filmmaking career in his early twenties. His early work has been featured in different magazines and has screened at prestigious venues like the Guggenheim Museum and the Tribeca Film Festival.

Dragon is Sommer’s first foray into feature-length filmmaking and it stands as his most ambitious project yet. Set in a medieval world, the film follows a group of knights as they recount old battles and tales of legend.

Dragon invites the audience into a cinematic experience that challenges the notion of traditional film. “I wanted the visuals to feel slightly disorienting but cinematic at the same time,” Sommer explained. “More like a dream you don’t realize you’re having until you wake up.”

When asked about his filmmaking process, Sommer said. “I’ve always had a strong visual sense. I’ve loved movies since I was a kid and I grew up on filmmakers like James Cameron. It was always my goal to make a feature.”

Dragon is available on VOD and distributed by Fawesome.tv
