Interviewer: Welcome, Adnan. Could you tell us, in your own words, what Back 2 Forward is all about?
Adnan Amir: Thank you for having me. Absolutely, Back 2 Forward is essentially a love thriller, without giving too much away, perhaps not everyone is happy with who’s loving who! I guess the film really delves into the life of Roshan, a character I play, who finds his world turned upside down by these haunting visions, that blur the lines between reality and dreams. He doesn’t know why certain things are happening to him and he has to figure things out, fast! It’s a powerful and unique rollercoaster journey of emotions through Roshan’s past and present, unraveling mysteries and confronting truths that ultimately challenge perceptions of identity and justice.
Interviewer: Amazing, sounds so exciting. Your character, Roshan, is at the heart of this complex narrative. Can you tell us more about him?
Adnan Amir: Yes, Roshan’s a multifaceted character who really undergoes a profound transformation throughout the film. I love how versatile the character is, you see so many different sides which naturally unfold. Initially, he’s a seemingly ordinary individual grappling with unsettling visions. However, as the story unfolds, you discover layers of his past and the truth behind the events that have shaped his life. Roshan’s essentially a good guy but when fate changes, and he’s left with no options, he has to take matters in his own hands… and he gets angry!! I love playing the character and I can’t really think of any more challenging characters that people have played in their breakout films. I knew it was going to test me more than anything else I’ve worked on, but I was up for the challenge and I really hope people like it.
Interviewer: Sounds like a very challenging yet brilliant and robust character to play. What inspired you to make this film, especially taking on the roles of director and writer?
Adnan Amir: I think in life we can all go way beyond what people think we can go, as long as we believe in it ourselves. I’ve always loved films, especially the ones that you can’t guess what’s going to happen next! Even back at University I’d written random story plot notes for Back 2 Forward in my law lectures-I must’ve been bored!! I didn’t know it was Back 2 Forward then, but I was drawn to the opportunity to explore complex themes such as love, loss, and the search for truth, as I believe those are the most powerful and entertaining subjects in film. It’s the raw emotions that we all love to see and that we can all resonate with. As both the director and writer, I had the creative freedom to bring my vision to life and to delve deep into the psyche of the characters. It’s been an incredibly challenging, yet rewarding experience, and I’m really excited to share the result with audiences.
Interviewer: Incredible, I honestly can’t wait to see this. With so much anticipation surrounding Back 2 Forward, why should audiences be eager to watch it?
Adnan Amir: Thank you! Well, there’s so many reasons… Back 2 Forward offers a unique cinematic experience that blends elements of romance, thriller, action and mystery into a compelling narrative. Beyond the captivating storyline, you have the film’s emotional depth and powerful performances by all the main cast, which will have viewers reflecting on their own perceptions of truth and justice. There’s arguably the biggest major plot twist ever! There’s some brilliant songs in the film and generally it’s a real rollercoaster ride of suspense and intrigue, that I believe audiences will thoroughly enjoy! Along with this I love to celebrate diversity, there’s no play on stereotypes, we’re all individuals and all the characters reflect this, this was important to me and we should celebrate equality and inclusion.
